Germany is at war and declares that any ship who crosses the borders near Britain would sink in 1915. Britain warned the captain Thomas Turner to use methods such as zig zagging and changing their course every few minutes to avoid Germany tracking their movements, but unfortunately Thomas Turner ignored their advice and continued his path as normal. Germany was aware that the ship was also carrying firearms, making them feel their attack was “justified”.

On May 7 1915 German U-boats sank the ship Lusitania. 128 American citizens died that day within 20 minutes, it turned the hatred on Germany and British propaganda was growing. Anti-German riot acts broke out because of this hatred. So in march 1916 president Wilson told Germany that if they sank ships without warning again, America would enter the war and cut ties with Germany. Because of this Britain intercepted a telegram telling Mexico that if they declared war on America when they entered the war they would receive the lands of New Mexico, California, and Arizona.
