  • 14th September 1975, 50 marchers leave Te Hāpua.
  • Marae in Whangarei. (14th September 1975-13th October 1975)
  • Harbour bridge in Auckland.(14th September 1975-13th October 1975)
  • Not one more acre of land to be lost!

  • 3) 50 marchers left Te Hapua, located in the far north. On Sunday, 14th September, 1975. The aim of the march was to walk 1000km to Wellington (parliament), Protesting for Maori land rights, and to present the signed petition.
  • 10th October 1975, Waitangi Tribunal.
  • 
  • 8) As they were marching they stopped by, Marae to Marae. Needing to rest and gathering more people who were willing to join onto the March. They stopped by a/few? Marae/s in in Whangarei. This happened in between 14th September to 13th November.
  • Wellington. (14th September-13th October)
  • 8) While marching they got through to Auckland and to Auckland's Harbour bridge. There were about 50-5000 people marching on through the Harbour bridge, almost making the bridge collapse. The march was led by Whina Cooper/ Dame Whina Cooper, and her granddaughter Irenee Cooper by her side. She was 79 almost 80 years old, when she led the march. Even though she was tried she did not give up. 1) She was supported by the marchers crying behind her "Not one more acre (a unit of land area equal to 4,840 square yards (0.405 hectare)) of land to be lost."
  • 13th October 1975, Whina Cooper presented the petition to Parliament.
  • 7) The Waitangi Tribunal was created on 10th October 1975. The Tribunal was created because there were many complaints from the Maori based on the Treaty, The Te Tiriti O Waitangi. The Tribunal tries/tries to resolve/resolves an issue that was between the Maori and the Crown.
  • 8) In between 14th September and 13th October they reached to their second to last destination, which was Wellington. They marched/walked for about a month to reach to their final destination. Wellington Parliament.
  • 9) On 13th of October Whina Cooper led 5000 people to the parliament grounds to present the petition. She presented the parliament memorial rights signed by 200 Maori elders, a petition supporting the objectives of the march signed by 60,000 people to the New Zealand prime minister Bill Rowling.
