- " I threw it on the fire. If you keep it, don't blame me for what happens. Pitch it on the fire like a sensible man."
- "Sergeant Major-Morris!"
- "There he is"
- "He was caught in the machinery"
- This scene takes place in Victorian England. When a soldier pays a visit to the White family, and he shows them a "monkey's paw" that will grant them 3 wishes.
- - Climax -
- "I wish for two hundred pounds"
- Father and son were at chess, the former, who possessed ideas about the game involving radical changes, putting his king into such sharp and unnecessary perils that it even provoked comment from the white - haired old lady knitting placidly by the fire. ( textable is talking about the soldier) This scene is the beginning of the story. Basically when they are waiting fo the Sergeant to show up.
- "Come back, you will be cold"
- "It is colder for my son"
- "Was that you started telling me the other day about a monkey's paw or something Morris?" . . . . . . Sergeant, "It has caused enough mischief already" . . . . This scene is when the Sergeant comes to the house and later on warns them about the monkey paw that he has. That is why he through it in the fire, and told them to let it burn.

- "The bolt, come down I can't reach it"
- "It's my boy; its Herbert!"
- She then caught her breath, and turning to her slower-witted husband, laid her trembling old hand upon his. "He was caught in the machinery," the visitor had said in a low voice. So what happens here is that Mr. and Mrs. White was having breakfast when a man in all black comes to tell them that their son had died. And that the compensation they get is 200 pounds, which is what they wished for.
- 1. The bed was warm, and his eyes heavy with sleep He dozed fitfully, and slept until a sudden wild cry from his wife awoke him with a start. 2. He went down in the darkness. The talisman was in its place, and a horrible fear that the unspoken wish might bring his mutilates son before him ere he could escape from the room seized upon him. He sat until he was chilled with cold, after he had wished the wish that he somewhat regretted.
- "Wish!!!!"
- "I wish my son alive again!"
- Her husband was on his hands and knees groping wildly on the floor in search of the paw. . . . He then heard the creaking of the bolt as it came slowly back, and at the same moment he found the monkey paw, and frantically breathed his third and last wish. . . . Soon after the the door flew open the street lamp flickering opposite shone on a quiet and deserted road. - So basically this scene is when a loud knocking is heard at the door, then all of the crazy stuff starts happening.
