- Also known as George Crum was born on July 15, 1824, in Saratoga County in the state of New York. He was a renowned African-American chef who worked at Moon's Lake House in Saratoga Springs, New York. By 1860, Speck had opened his own restaurant, called Crum's. His cooking was in high demand among tourists and Saratoga Springs elites. He died on July 24, 1914, in Malta, New York, U.S.

- Potato chips were born in the United States in the summer of 1853. In a tourist place called Saratoga Springs, where the chef at Moon's Lake House restaurant was Crum.

- A customer went to Moon's Lake House restaurant, first ordered some potatoes but sent them back because they were too thick, then ordered other potatoes but didn't like them and sent them back again.
- WHAT HORRIBLE POTATOES!!!Who prepared them?
- Crum was fed up, so he cut the fries as thin as he could, so that once fried, the customer couldn't poke them with a fork and thus be embarrassed.
