  • pathogens enter the body through cuts, nose, mouth or wounds and bites, when pathogens enter, it triggers the inflammatory response to stop the invading pathogens from harming the body
  • phagocytes are white blood cells in the body, that destroy pathogens with special chemicals 
  • scene 2
  • inflammatory response (inflammation) occurs when tissues are injured, it is when the skin becomes red or swollen
  • when a person gets a cut, the blood vessels near the area of the injury expand, this allows more blood to flow to the area and fight the invading pathogens
  • scene 3
  • white blood cells, that are called phagocytes surround the pathogens and destroy them with special chemicals, the damaged white blood cells and damaged tissues build up at the sites of inflammation if bacteria are present 
  • fluid and cells from the bloodstreams put pressure on the nerve endings, this causes pressure and pain

  • with the pathogens killed and the white blood cells, the body can repair the damaged tissue
