- This is important because there was a plane crash and Rachel wants to know if her brother was okay.

- This is important because it shows what "ugly love" means and how it's shown in this novel.
- "I tried to stay. I tried to love you. Every time I look at you, I see him. Everything is him. If I stay, everything will always be him. You know that. I know you understand that. I shouldn't blame you." (Tate,281)
- "Whoever coined the phrase "I love you to death" obviously never experienced the kind of love Tate and I shared. If that were the case, the phrase would be, "I love you to life. Because that's exactly what Tate did."(Miles,318)
