- I am about to tell you the days to come, I will tell you how it will end and then how it will begin once more. This is how we will know that the end of time is upon us.
- While the gods sleep, on earth an infinite winter will arrive (Fimbulwinter) that will unleash fights between families, hunger and an almost irresistible cold. Then will come the time of the great earthquakes. Mountains, trees, and houses will collapse, all ties will come loose and the sun will fade out.
- Heimdall will touch the Gjallerhorn and the gods will go to Vigrid ready to fight. Upon arriving Odin fights with Fenrir, Thor with the Midgar serpent and Frey with Surtr, Frey's armor is no obstacle to the giant's flaming sword and he ends up with a wound that leads to his death.
- Earthquakes will release Fenrir and where he walks, flaming destruction follows. There is nothing he cannot eat, nothing he will not destroy.
- Jormungundr, the serpent of Midgard, huge and dangerous, will writhe in his fury, closer and closer to the earth. Its poison will kill all marine life, including fish and birds.
- Loki, who will have escaped from his bonds beneath the earth, will be the helmsman of the ship called Naglfar. This is the biggest ship there will ever have been: it is built of the fingernails of the dead.Loki steers the ship, but its captain will be Hrym, leader of the frost giants.
