  • The Signs of Suicide:-Warning Signs-Protective Factors-Risk Factors-What to do if you're worried for someone
  • Some warning signs can consist of isolating yourself from others and being withdrawn from the people you used to be close to.
  • Some more signs could be a change in mood or behavior such as sleeping a lot more. There could also be hopelessness and no sense of purpose.
  • Some warning signs should be immediately addressed such as a person threatening to hurt or kill themselves, looking for means to kill themselves by, and when out of the usual for them speaking of death or suicide.
  • The risk factors that one must consider could be personal past and how they families history of depression or suicide could look like.Also being teased and/or bullied. Having problems at school or at home and lack of social support from family and/or friends. Access to lethal means could be one to push it over the edge. Losing a loved one or stressing over situations. These could all lead to depression and later on suicide.
  • To continue to keep people from committing it is best to have some certain protective factors in place, having strong relations with family, friends and school. Having the access to health care and resources that will help you continue on. Access to lethal means is a huge one and if we can limit access to it then we have made a huge impact on protecting someone.
  • What you should do if you feel like its gotten to the point you should act on is the following:-Stay with the person and don't trust them to be on their own-Call suicide prevention lifeline; 1-800-273-TALK-Help person to the hospital-Call 911-Help the person stay away from things they could use to harm themselves.
