- Siddhartha was born in Nepal. He grew up as a wealthy in the palace. Siddhartha had all the luxury that he wanted. His father was a king.
- This is me when I'm wearing scratchy clothes.
- When Siddhartha was born, a fortune teller (prophet) told his father that Siddhetha’s would either grow up to become a King or a Spiritual leader (Holy Man). a spiritual leader, his father Shielded Siddartha from everything unpleasant for disturbing. The prince never saw suffering.

- What did Siddhartha decide to search for? p. 158: When he left the palace, he saw an old man, a sick man, and a dead man. On his fourth ride out in the palace, he saw a wandering holy man. He decided to search for the same sense of peace that a holy man showed.

- Siddhartha begins his search for truth by spending time with Hindu Gurus and ascetics. For five years, he wore scratchy clothes and fasted. He realized that going to such extremes was not the path to truth
- He reached enlightenment and become the Buddha because he reflected on his experience of life and deeply meditate. Siddhartha mediates under a special tree and mediate for 49 days and he didn’t eat or drink and he reaches enlightenment. While meditating he came to understand the cycle of birth-death and rebirth.
- Siddhartha reaches enlightenment and he did is he taught people what he learned. For the last next 45 years, he traveled across India and sharing his message. He trained some of them to be a teacher and religious leaders.
