Storyboard Text

  • Hello, Joseph. I've heard there's a dispute going on concerning federalism against anti-federalism. I'd want to cast my vote for a federalist. We require a powerful central government. We must strengthen the economy while maintaining peace. Rather than being individual states.
  • I believe that if we have a powerful central government, state governments will be weakened, and we will end up like Britain, where they misused their position and imposed taxes without our approval.
  • In my perspective, a strong central government would not end up like Britain since it is capable of resolving economic crises, such as during the Shays Rebellion. We could have handled the problem of farmers not being able to pay their taxes if we had a strong central government because the central government would have raised money from the states to support the farmers in Massachusetts.
  • He has a point, but there are additional problems with having a powerful central authority.
  • YEA BUT WE CAN JUST MAKE A NEW BILL OF RIGHTS AND WE HAVE GOOD WELL-KNOWN LEADERS LIKE ALEXANDER HAMILTON AND JAMES MADISON THEY WOULD OF COURSE PROTECT BASIC RIGHTS.
  • There is no bill of rights in the constitution. How would we know that a strong central government would safeguard our fundamental rights?
  • Also, if the state approves of a strong central government. We can address a variety of problems, such as what would happen if states became embroiled in war and began battling one other. There would be no way to put an end to the battle. Also, if we had a strong central government during Shay's Rebellion, the government could have aided Massachusetts through the economic slump instead of losing property and voice since white male property owners can only vote.
  • Yes, having a strong central government would be able to help us especially for economic or agricultural issues, But I still don’t agree with having the states ratify the constitution because they can still abuse their power just like Britain we just won a whole a whole war for freedom.
  • But we have the Supreme Court, which has the power to impeach the "president" or "monarch," therefore that will never happen.
  • If we have a powerful central authority, your "president" might easily become a king, thus breaking away from Britain would be pointless.
  • This man can't think straight; if we don't have a strong central government, there's no reason to do this in the first place.
  • This man won't give up; he's still tenacious; we need a strong central government, for example, during an economic downturn, and for resolving difficulties, such as when two states dispute, a strong central government would be really beneficial.
