- Jem "I'm not coming down until you agree to play football for the Methodists."
- JemFine... whatever. just get in.Hurry up! You ready?
- ScoutAll right.....Uh-huh, let her go.
- Scout!!!! Get away from there!!!!

- Atticus comes home while Scout was calling Jem to come down out of the treehouse. But Jem refused to get down until Atticus would agree to play football for the Methodists. Atticus claimed that he was too old to play.

- Dill bet Jem that he wouldn't or couldn't walk past the Radley's house and Jem, knowing him and how stubborn he is, said that he does it all the time. Scout called him out and said that he does go past there but runs instead of walking. So Jem grabbed a tire so they could roll past the Radley's house.
- Jem pushed Scout with all his strength so.... there goes Scout, rolling down the street in a tire that stops right in front of the Radley's. Jem hollers at Scout to get away from the house, then he grabs her and runs behind their house to hide incase someone comes out of the Radley's house.
