  • May 5, 1789 marked the date of the beginning of the French Revolution. The colonists attempted to agree upon a peaceful negotiation. Since their efforts were ineffective, they eventually grew tired. Due to this, an event happened in Versailles, as to which 1,200 deputies arrived from all over France. The colonists took action later on.
  • June 20, of 1789, was the day of the Tennis Court Oath. The colonists had moved to an indoor tennis court after discovering they had been locked out of their usual meeting hall. Since they assumed the king was forcing them to disband, they decided they would unite and make a plan. When they arrived in the tennis court, they made an oath. They swore to to never separate until a written constitution had been established for France.
  • On June 14, 1789, the colonists stormed the Bastille.
