- Welcome to the first Thanksgiving.
- Can you please stoke the fire, honey.
- The Pilgrims journeyed to America on the Mayflower but it wasn't like a cruise. The trip was grueling and harsh, with bad weather and horrible diseases.
- The Reason for Jamestown
- I cannot believe we didn't find a thing out there today. Hopefully, we'll end up rich.
- The Pilgrims were in a very rough spot because they couldn't grow or hunt food. A Native American by the name of Squanto came along and taught them how to do those things.
- The Tobacco Botanist
- Pilgrims decided that they wanted to create a holiday so they could celebrate their freedom from Britain. On Thanksgiving they shared food with the natives and gathered in their village to celebrate.
- The Town's Wealth
- This is my new home, and it is magnificent.
- The British settled in Jamestown because they wanted gold and riches. Very little of that was found, but they made up for it.
- John Rolfe, a plant scientist, traveled to Jamestown for work. He started his work with tobacco and other cash crops.
- This looks like the perfect place to start.
- The villagers of Jamestown truly profited from Rolfe's work. They were now wealthy and rich beyond measure.
