  • Act 1, Scene 1 (Mr. Parris and the Putnam´s Conversate)
  • Mrs. Putnam: ¨.....And yet each would wither in my arms the very night of their birth. .....And so I thought to send her to your Tituba.¨Parris: ¨To Tituba ! What may Tituba -?¨Mrs. Putnam: ¨Tituba knows how to speak to the dead.¨
  • Act 1, Scene 1 (The girls discuss the night in the woods)
  • Abigail: ¨I told him everything he knows now, he knows everything we -¨Betty: ¨You drank blood, Abby! You didn´t tell him that!¨Abigail: ¨Betty, you never say that again! You will never -¨
  • Act 1, Scene 2 (Abigail and John)
  • Proctor: Abby, you´ll put it out of mind. I´ll not be comin for you.¨Abigail: ¨You´re surely sportin with me.¨Proctor: ¨You know me better.¨Abigail: ¨I know how you clutched my back behind your house and sweated like a stallion whenever I come near!¨
  • I believe this scene is important because in this scene during the Putnums and Rev. Parris´s conversation, Ann Putman confesses that she sent her daughter Ruth to Tituba so that she could speak to her dead siblings, giving the reader a piece of information regarding what happened that night that Abigail, Betty, Ruth, and Mary were in the woods.
  • Act 1, Scene 3 (Rev. Hale confronts Abigail and Tituba)
  • Hale: ¨Abigail, it may be that your cousin is dying. Did you call the Devil last night.¨Abigail: ¨I never called him! Tituba, Tituba....¨Hale: ¨Woman have you enlisted these children for the Devil¨Tituba: ¨No, no, no sir, I don´t truck with no Devil.¨
  • I think this scene is important because, Abigail, Mary, and Betty discuss what happened that night in the woods with Tituba. It is revealed what exactly happened that night, like how Abby drank blood and a charm to kill Mrs. Proctor. Abigail, who plays the ring leader of the group forces and scares the girls into remaining silent and obeying her orders.
  • Act II, Scene 2 (The Proctors and Mary Warren Conversate)
  • Mary Warren: ¨I saved her life today!¨Elizabeth: ¨I am accused?¨Mary Warren: ¨Somewhat mentioned. But I said I never see no sign you ever sent your spirit out to hurt me, and seeing I do live closely with you, they dismissed it.Elizabeth: ¨Who accused me?¨Mary Warren: ¨I am bound by law, I cannot tell it.¨
  • I believe this scene is important because during this scene Mr. Proctor and Abigail have a conversation and it is revealed why there are rumors floating around about Abigails name being tainted. Abigail and Mr. Proctor have had an affair but Abigail still loves John and refuses to accept that they cannot be together.
  • Act II, Scene 4 (Mrs. Proctor is accused and taken away by Mr. Cheever)
  • Herrick: ¨I have nine men outside. You cannot keep her. The law binds me.¨Elizabeth: ¨John - I think I must go with them.¨Proctor: ¨I will bring you home. I will bring you soon.¨Elizabeth: ¨Oh, John, bring me soon!¨
  • I believe this scene is important because this is where Abigail and Tituba are questioned by revered Hale about witchcraft. Abigail blames everything on Tituba and Tituba tries to defend herself but also confesses. In the process of this all others are blamed and dragged into this situation.
  • I believe this scene is important because during the scene it has been found out from Mary, that she and the girls are now officially apart of the with trials and that Elizabeths name was mentioned as one of the suspects, however Mary covered for her. This informs that nobody is safe from being accused and that the girls hold a great amount of power.
  • I believe this scene is important because again it expresses how much power Abigail and the girls have. Even someone as good as Elizabeth has been convicted which shows that anyone can be accused. This scene foreshadows the gruesome trials and challenges to come for those of Salem.
