  • Towns were remained small during the start of the Industrial Revolution, and farms relied on labor rather than machinery.
  • Farmers and their laborers ran the farms, which allowed for the collection of everyday things like cotton and crops utilizing hard physical effort.
  • Years later, machinery was developed that allowed many wealthy farmers to quickly cultivate and harvest their crops using machines such as the cotton gin, which separated cotton from its seeds more faster than numerous workers could in a single day.
  • The invention of Machinery used for farming and other common jobs like tailoring caused the growth of the small towns to slowly becoming much greater living areas.
  • As small towns grew into larger societies, their machinery and factories accompanied them, allowing the use of coal to power their machines, with the drawbacks of causing Black Lung and the emergence of child labor, as well as farmers joining that work force as a result of the loss of their farms. Pollution had also become a problem.
  • By the end of the Industrial Revolution, towns had turned into cities as a result of the massive population boom that occurred when many people came to work, factories had grown massive to produce much more quickly for the massive amount of people, and the revolution had also caused the skies to darken due to pollution produced directly by factories working.
