- On Scout's first day of school, she tried to help Walter by explaining to Miss Caroline about his family's bad finances, but that only made her teacher's perspective of her worse.
- Calpurnia was disappointed in Scout because she thought she was better than Walter. Calpurnia taught her she must try to be understanding.
- Miss Caroline saw lice on Burris Ewell's head and started panicking. Little Chuck Little helped calm her down and explained to her who Burris was.
