Storyboard Text

  • Let's take a look at how photosynthesis is made for food.
  • Carbon dioxide enters the leaf first.
  • Water is absorbed into the leaf. Through the stroma.
  • Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast which only plant cells have. Carbon dioxide and water are both reactants for photosynthesis.
  • Light hits the pigment in the membrane of a thylakoid, splitting the water into oxygen.
  • Light reactions are split into two types , Calvin cycle and light dependent. This step is light dependent.
  • And that is the process of photosynthesis!
  • The Calvin Cycle ( light independent) uses the carbon dioxide that has been collected to help produce glucose. ATP and NADP+ give the energy for the reactions to occur.
  • Carbon Dioxide Water
  • 6CO2 + 6H2O
  • Solar Energy
  • Photosynthesis
  • C6H12O6 + 6O2
  • Glucose Oxygen
  • What did you learn?
  • In light dependent reactions light energy is used to convert ADP to ATP and NADP+ to NADPH.
  • Oxygen and glucose are the two outputs from the leaf.
  • Equation for photosynthesis
