Storyboard Text

  • Parvana and her father are on their way to Mazar where they hope to find the rest of their family, the dust of the road clouding their vision. Her sister was to be married in Mazar, but since Parvana and her father found out that the city is now under the rule of the Taliban, they now believe their family to be in danger. For this reason, they are heading to Mazar where they will try to find and rescue their family.
  • Taliban!
  • Parvana and her father arrive at Mazar after an uneventful journey to find stranded travelers in camps outside the city. After searching the makeshift tents for hours, they finally stumble upon their family! With a joyful reunion behind them, the now reunited family heads back to Kabul.
  • With another uneventful journey under their belt, the Family arrives in Kabul and returns to their regular routines. Parvana and her father return to the market where business continues as usual and Fatana and Nooria continue their secret school. The family is planning to join Mrs. Weera in Pakistan as soon as they have enough money, for which reason Parvana cannot join them in their school, but must earn money like her father.

  • Pakistan
  • Just over a week after they return, Nooria and Fatana hear a knock at the door in the middle of their teaching day. Fatana hisses at Nooria and the children to hide before throwing on the burqa and timidly answering the door. To her relief, it is just the father of one of the students attending her school, but the news her bears is much less reilefing. The Taliban knows about their school and which means that they are in much danger and should flee immediately.
  • In fear of being arrested or worse, the family starts preparing for the move immediately. Fatana writes a letter to Mrs. Weera explaining their complicated and dangerous situation and asking if she can meet them at the airport. When he is at the market, Parvana’s father asks his friend to drive them to the nearest airport where they will board a plane to the city in Pakistan where Mrs. Weera is.
  • After a successful flight, the family joyfully reunites with Mrs. Weera, her granddaughter and Shauzia. Mrs. Weera graishously offers for them to move in with her until they find a more permanent place to live. The family gratefully accepts. After so much danger, excitement and fear, they are ready for a quiet life.
