- The old nurse named Eurycleia had noticed Odysseus in the castle. She went up to him and asked who he was there for and saw that he had a scar on the bottom of his leg. She asked if it that must be Odysseus because she knew that little boy Odysseus that she taught growing up. This when he told her that it was him and they planned out how to get rid of the suitors.
- Odysseus challenged the other suitors to try and shoot an arrow through 12 axe rings. He did this to show Penelope that he was Odysseus and that she did not have to marry any other man. No other man could shoot the arrow through so he went up to do it and he did. Right after that they attacked the suitors and killed them all.
- Eurycleia had gone up to find Penelope and tell her that it really was Odysseus. Penelope said that she wanted to test him first and make sure that it was really her Odysseus. The old nurse kept trying to convince her that it really was but Penelope insisted on going and getting him and asking him a few questions to know that it was her Odysseus.
