- Percival, Cout Fosco, Laura and Marian where having dinner at Blackwater Park
- I must hear their conversation
- I want to talk to you in private
- Later, when the ladies are asleep
- I put on a simple cloak and climbed out of the window and moved to the library roof when i hear the voices of Sir Percival and Count Fosco.
- Percival, we are at a financial crisis. We must find the money to pay our debts. Talk to me about your wifes´s money
- While my wife lives i get 3.000 punds a year, but thats not enought
- And if she dies?

- My wife Laura and a drawing teacher called Walter Hartright knows it. He is in love with my wife and she loves him, but he left the country

- Up on the roof was cold and wet so I climbed back in to my bedroom.
