  • If we try to fight in every revolution in the world, we never stop. Where do we draw the line?

  • Hamilton's view on supporting France is that we are too weak to start another war. Hamilton provides evidence that the French have no royalty or people to lead in war. President Washington supports Hamilton because the French has no one to lead them and that the United States is too fragile to fight again.
  • Treaties
  • When we were on death's door, when we were needy. We made a promise, we signed a treaty.
  • Hamilton is saying if we start fighting in every revolution the United States would never stop. Since Hamilton is supported by Washington, Jefferson makes fun of Hamilton because Washington supports Hamilton and not himself. Hamilton supports not fighting in the French revolution because America is too weak to fight.
  • Messy Revolution
  • And revolution is messy but now it is time to stand

  • Thomas Jefferson views this situation as that France helped the United States when they were in need. In return, they should help France out in time of their need. France provided guns and money to the United States when they were trying to get independence from England. Jefferson points out that we should help them because they helped us.
  • We signed a treaty with a King whose now in a basket.
  • Jefferson thinks that the United States needs to stand and help the French even though they just got out of their own revolution. Thomas wants to support the French because they supported the United States. President Washington does not side with Jefferson because there is no leaders to lead the French.
