King Lear

As King Lear grows old, he plans to divide the Kingdom between his three daughters who must confess their love to him. The two older sisters, Goneril and Regan, give speeches about how much they love their father, however Cordelia does not do the same. King Lear is so angry that he banishes her, splitting the Kingdom in two.

Kent and Oswald, two servants who had messages for Regan, get into a fight. After the fight is broken up by Gloucester and Cornwall, Regan refuses to allow King Lear to stay with her. The two daughters act cruel and greedy toward their father, and this results in the King wandering into a wild storm alone.

The king of France calls for a War against England, and Cordelia, who has married the King of France, comes with them. Eventually Cordelia and King Lear are Reunited, but are then imprisonerby Goneril and Regan.

Both Regan and Goneril fancy Edmund, Gloucester's illegitimate son. After Regan states that she wishes to marry Edmund, Goneril poisons her out of jealousy, before ending her own life.

Cordelia is killed by a guard, and King Lear then dies out of sorrow. Edgar, Gloucester's real son, challenges and kills Edmund. This leaves Albany and Edgar in charge of a broken Britain.
