Storyboard Text

  • I think so. I understand subtraction and addition but not multiplication and division.
  • SaritaI have a problem. We learned about integers in school today but I am facing problem in understanding the concept.
  • Alright, let's start by telling you about this.
  • GeetaDon't worry about it. I will help you regarding this.
  • That’s so cool! Now please teach me or I will fail
  • Sounds simple enough, what about dividing?
  • I will give you some key information and then help you with problems. When you are multiplying two opposite signs like (-) with (+) it will always give an answer in (-). But in two same signs the answer will come in that sign.
  • Slow down there, let me explain a problem to you. Let’s see, multiplying -4 with +6? the answer will be -24. But multiplying +4 with +6 will give answer in +24.Do you get it?
  • So I know that you division normally, But don't know which signs are applied.
  • I think I do! Can we talk about division now?
  • Okay so, in division you divide the numbers normally, but if they have the same signs the answer will be positive, and if they have different signs the answer is negative.
  • Sure! What do you know so far?
  • Yes! Multiplication and Division seems pretty easy now.
  • YES. Okay, so tell me if I’m wrong: -7 x -8 = 56 and -7 x 8 = -56?
  • Since you found multiplication and division simple, let me take a simple test of your regarding this. Are you ready? So, tell me that what you will get by multiplying -7 with 8 and with -8 too.
  • Nope, you got it right! Now tell me what you will get by dividing -9 with 3.
  • I think I’m ready, but yeah I want to review it tomorrow too. Thank you so much for the help Geeta, you are a great friend!
  • Yay! Wait, before you leave, let me know if I'm good with division.: -9 / 3 = -3
  • Precisely. Do you think you are ready for school tomorrow? You can review this with me before class if you want to.
  • No problem Sarita, anytime.
  • No problem, friends are meant to help each other. You help me in understanding integers and it's my duty to help you.
  • So is your mom coming to pick you up? You can use my phone to call her if you need to.
  • She said she would but I think she forgot me. Yeah I'll call her. Thanks for help.
  • My mother has came. Ok, bye.
