- In my episode, the theme I am focusing on is this: be friendly to be treated friendly.or mean to be mean to be treated meanly.
- One quotation from Holes that supports the theme here is the following: “_Stanley takes the blame for stealing the sunflower seeds. Mr. Sir tries to have the Warden punish Stanley, but instead she scratches Mr. Sir with her rattlesnake venom nail polish.” (Sachar p. #).
- These details show the theme to be friendly to be treated friendly or mean to be mean to be treated meanly because in this quote, Mr. Sir is mad because he thinks Stanley took the seeds but the Warden doesn’t care so she punishes Mr. Sir. This shows the theme because it is karma.
- Mr. Sir opened the nozzle, and the water flowed out of the tank, but it did not go into Stanley's canteen. Instead, he held the canteen right next to the stream of water. Stanley watched the water splatter on the dirt, where it was quickly absorbed by the thirsty ground. ” (Sachar p. 47).

This shows the theme because Mr. Sir treated Stanley poorly, and he took away something Stanley needed. So in return. Stanley took what he needed, and a surplus.
