  • The Three Estates (Old Regiem)

  • National Assembly
  • The French had a system consisting of 3 major parts. The First Estate consisted of high-ranking officials who worked for the church. The second Estate had people known as nobles who were a form of the military. Third Estate has people who are known as commoners and had no form of privilege.
  • National Assembly
  • France had a downfall with their money, spending it more than they made it. The King and Queen were the biggest reasons for the bankruptcy as they spent most of their money on themselves for expensive products.
  • Reign of Terror
  • King XVI calls upon the Estates-General to represent each Estate. The King decides to let each Estate represent a vote. The Third Estate votes for the Second and First Estate to pay more taxes but it's dismissed since it's 1 out of 2 votes. The Second and Third Estate vote to make the Third estate pay more taxes with it going though since the votes were 2 out of 3. The King kicks the Third estate because he felt as nothing was being done.
  • Napoleon's Legacy
  • The Third Estate takes a stand against the unfair treatment they are facing from the First and Second Estate. They vowed and took the Tennis Court Oath meaning they planned to create a new constitution for France
  • Later in France, a man named Maximilien Robespierre created the safety assembly and accused many people of treason and the consequence of treason was death by guillotine killing over 17,000 people in the process
  • Napoleon Invades many kingdoms in Europe and reinforces France in the process and maintaining ideas of the enlightenment. He later creates Napoleon's code which helped with equality for all citizens and religious tolerance.
