- This scene takes a flash back to Gatsby's younger days. His new relationship with Dan Cody made him realize what he desired in life. Along with life lessons, Gatsby learned from his time with Cody that wealth was his ultimate desire. Cody's yacht was the epitome of success for Gatsby.
- Wow Dan Cody is living the life. I'll know i made it in life when i own an expensive yacht like his.
- Mr. Sloane is over at Gatsby's home. Gatsby's insists on them staying for dinner, however Sloane does not budge and denies his offer.
- No thank you, we should be on our way now.
- Please it would be my pleasure, stay for supper.
- Gatsby and Daisy spend time alone dancing with each other. Nick notices Gatsby doing things he's never done before. Their actions further create tension as their interest in each other grows more obvious.
- Wow, i have never seen Gatsby dance so elegantly.
- Tom rants to Nick while they are outside on the porch. He rambles on his disagreement with Daisy's arrangement. Tom also expresses his dislike with modern women compared to old-fashioned women.
- How does Daisy throw a dinner for people she doesn't even know! These broads run around too much!
- Nick, Daisy, and Tom wait outside Gatsby's house after the party. It is a cold night, as they wait for the car to be prepared. Tom seems to be very bothered. He questions Gatsby's reputation and accuses him of being a bootlegger. Daisy and Tom bump heads as they reach a disagreement over the matter.
- who is this Gatsby guy any ways? He's probably a bootlegger, most new money folk are crooks.
- At least they're fun to be around.
- Gatsby is worried whether Daisy had a good time with him. Nick tells him that he has to take a step back and not expect so much of Daisy, for things cant be exactly like they were in the past. Gatsby ignores Nick's advice and doubles down on his pursue of Daisy's heart.
- You cant repeat the past, you must lower your expectations.
- Yes i can and i'll prove you wrong by winning her over again!
