  • In the year 1743, a soon to be a hero called Toussaint L'Ouverture was born in the colony of Saint Dominique. Toussaint is born with militant smarts that will help him through his battles against France.
  • I will lead these them to victory!
  • Toussaint was born into a slave class in Saint Dominque. As he was growing up, his master had taught him how to read and write. Toussaint read every book he could get his hands on. He liked to read French philosophers.

  • In 1791 after The Rights of Man had been announce in France, the masses in Saint Dominque has started revolt due to the fact they are still enslaved.

  • Toussaint L'Ouverture had then took leadership of the revolters and started to fight for freedom. He and his "army" had fought off the French, Spanish, and British with a little help from yellow fever.
  • By 1793, the French revolution had already started in France, which has caused chaos there. During the time, the Jacobins had taken over France. This group had been led by a man named Maximilian Robespierre. He is the one who voted to end slavery in all French Colonies.
  • After Saint Domingue had been freed from slavery, Toussaint promised France to help them kick the British and Spanish off the island. After seven battles won in 7 days, Toussaint had proved to everyone he is a brilliant general. He soon was named de facto governor of the colony
