Defense Mechanism: Displacement

Your so bad at your job do better

*Goes home and kicks the staircase*

Sigmund Freud's Displacement defense mechanism is when someone satisfies an impulse, or emotion with a substitute object, putting out an emotion on someone or something else. An example of this being someone who gets attacked by their boss at work for doing a bad job, and then cannot take their anger out on their boss so then they go home angry and kick the staircase in frustration.

Defense Mechanism: Regression

Sigmund Freud's Regression Defense Mechanism is when someone regresses back psychologically in time when someone is faced with stress, so to cope they go back to a place where they had less stress. An example of this being when a student is stressed out studying for multiple hard AP exams they regress back and start sucking their thumb without notice just to deal/cope with all the stress of studying and worrying.

Sigmund Freud's Projection Defense Mechanism is when someone believes internally that their emotions may be unacceptable and they do not want to attribute these emotions to themselves and create guilt so they attribute these thoughts to others instead. An example of this being that a student hates the teacher but believes this is wrong so then they think the teacher hates them as to avoid their unacceptable feelings.

Defense Mechanism: Projection

I hate the teacher... wait no actually he hates me!

*Sucks on thumb*
