  • Umm no, eww. They look out of place and strange. Why don't they stay in their little mansion.
  • Look Zuri it's the Darcey boys, aren't they so cute?
  • How does the character look?Zuri is the main character in the book Pride. Zuri is a 17 year old, short and curvy, Haitian-Dominican girl.
  • I wish I could get past this mental block, so I can write my essay
  • Well... I'd be past my writer's block if Darius would stop messing with me.
  • What / who does the character love?Zuri truly values the people in her neighborhood. Zuri doesn't take a single person or street corner in her "hood" for granted. She truly loves and values her family above all things, but the people in her hood are apart of her family as well.
  • I can't believe my life has changed so much.
  • I am very grateful for my new home, and I am glad we all have space to grow, without stepping on each other.
  • What kind of person are they?Zuri is a youthful but stubborn teen. She is very justmental, yet quick witted.
  • Everyone at my university is so different from back home, but it's a good different!
  • Thatś kinda wack sis. Why would you wanna meet different people...
  • I wish she would stop talking about her time away without me
  • What does the character think about?Zuri often thinks about her "hood", and how she can keep it the same lively and cozy environment, considering the new wealthy family moved on her block. In addition to the atmosphere of her neighborhood, Zuri had an underlying worry for the college essay she would be writing for Howard University.
  • Where have they been / where are they going?Zuri and her family live in a poverty stricken neighborhood. Zuri has been in that neighborhood her entire life, and is very happy and content with her environment. Nevertheless, during the last few chapters of the book Zuri's family moves to a newer neighborhood; with the new environment Zuri is able to see life from a different perspective. Moving allowed Zuri to see that there is more to the world than what meets the eye, and her small neighborhood is only a fraction of what the world has to offer.
  • What is something the character can not do?Zuri is not the best at empathizing with others. Zuri's ister arrived back home from her first year away at college, and was happy to share with her family all of her new experiences. While listening to her sister, all Zuri could think about how much her sister had changed, rather than being happy that her sister got to see a new aspect of the world.
