- Jesus went to a place called Caesarea Philippi. He asked his disciples “who do people say the son of man is?”.
- Blessed are you, Simon the son of John. This was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this very rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
- They replied some people say “John the Baptist”, others say “Elijah” and others say “Jeremiah or one of the prophets”.
- I will give you the keys to heaven; whatever you will blind on earth will rebound in heaven, and whatever you choose to lose on earth will be lost in the kingdom of heaven.
- Jesus then asked Peter “who do you say who I am” Simon responded, “You are the messiah, the son of god”.
- Do not tell anyone that I am the son of God.
- Jesus then responded back to him “Blessed are you, Simon the son of John. This was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this very rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
