My Battle with Covey

- At three o' clock in the afternoon, Frederick Douglass passes out with no strength to get up.
- What happened?
- He is sick.
- Mr. Covey forces him to get up but Frederick Douglass physically cannot, therefore he kicks him multiple times leaving him with gushing blood and many wounds.
- Get up!
- Please help me!
- Mr. Covey did this?
- After walking seven miles in his conditions, he finally reached Master Thomas and pleaded for help. There was nothing that he could do to help.
- The root will help!
- Frederick Douglass was not ready to face his punishment so he went home with Sandy Jenkins who gave his advice to keep a certain root on his right side. He explained that it would have such an effect.
- Frederick Douglass hesitantly comes back with Mr. Covey waiting for him. To his surprise, he was not welcomed home with a whooping. He realizes that the root worked.
- When Frederick is in the horse stable, Mr. Covey attacks him, but instead of letting him win, he fights backs and it results in the superior white man giving up.
