- Napoleon Bonaparte overthrows Spanish king through war. This weakened the Spanish monarchy and their control over the colonized land in the AmericasMay 2nd, 1808 C.E.

- word reaches the Venezuelan peoples in the colonized land overseas. More and more begin to hear the news and many plan the revolt to gain Independence from the Spanish rule. 1808-1810

- Venezuelan people fight violently against the Spanish colonial army from 1810-1814 and fight for the independence of Venezuela. This being presently called the Venezuelan War of Independence. This was led by Simón Bolívar whom with the army of the people defeated the Spanish army.

- Simon Bolivar was then appointed as President of Venezuela and the new country declared its independence internationally in 1811

- In 1830 both Venezuela and Ecuador left "Great Columbia" and became two completely individually independent countries

- Then in 1999, the new president Hugo Chavez and the other members of the political party signed and adopted a democratic constitution that is still in place today in order to state the rights and freedoms of its people and to restore order to make Venezuela the country it is today.
