“You’ll make new friends here, tomorrow you will ride the school bus to your new school Ren,” Her mother gleefully said. “ Can’t wait,” Ren quickly replied back. Deep down she was scared. What if the new kids at her school didn’t like her? Or what if the new kids wouldn’t accept her? Questions filled her head but Ren decided to stay quiet.
“REN, YOU’RE GOING TO BE LATE” shouted by her mother. The question filled her head all night long. Ren dreadfully got out of bed and got ready for school. “Mom, do we really need to eat fried rice? We aren’t in China anymore, can’t I just get a piece of bread?” Ren protested. “We might have moved to a different country but that does not mean our heritage and culture changes” Ren’s mother quickly replied.
“Fine, I’ll eat it,” Ren replied, sounding defeated. “Ren the school bus is here, hope you have a great day at your new school” Ren’s mother gleefully said. With her lunch in one hand and her bookbag in the other Ren was off on her first day of school.
“Good Morning, and welcome aboard,'' said the bus driver. Ren greeted the bus driver, but when the bus driver tried to ask more questions about Ren, she quickly found a seat in the back on the bus.
“HEY, I’ve never seen you on the bus before, you new?” said the kid in front of her. “My name's Jackson, what’s your name?” Ren didn’t reply, all she could think of was her old friends back in China. The other kids started to notice that Ren wasn’t talking and was trying to stay silent. “HEY, new girl, where are you from?” said one kid. “You don’t look like you're from here,” said another.
Ren speedily walked to her class and stood in the doorway of her soon to be new class. “HEY, are you going in?” asked a curly haired girl. Without a second thought Ren quickly replied “Oh I’m sorry, you can go in fir-” and be she could finish her sentence the curly haired girl introduced herself. “You must be the new girl, well new girl my name Sophia, come on in I can show you around.” Ren nodded and before she knew it she was being shown around the classroom.
Just then, the bus pulled up to school and the doors opened. Ren did her best to not stare at the other kids in her new school. She didn’t want them to think of her as anything else but another new student.

Ren could only envision the kids on the bus and how she didn’t think other people would understand her life situation and why her family was forced to leave China. “I don’t know why my family moved from China,” Ren quickly replied. Mr.Chan looked slightly disappointed but continued on by thanking Ren for sharing.
“Hu.. hu.. Hi my name is Ren and my family and I just moved from China” Ren couldn’t stop stuttering. “Are you okay?” someone shouted “Why did you leave China?” another replied.
