  • Hey there, my name is Kate and today I will teach you all about Cell Division and the different process.
  • There are 4 types of mitosis Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase. Before a cell starts mitosis, it has to go through Interphase. There are 3 stages that cell goes through in Interphase. : G1 Phase is the first phase of Interphase. In this first phase the parent cell has already finished dividing chromosomes and cytokinesis has created two new cells. The cell then begins to carry out regular tasks, growing and replicates anything that it needs. However, if a cell needs to perform a specialized function, the cell must differentiate. The cell will have to leave the G1 phase to go into a state which it can differentiate also known as G0.
  • S Phase is the second phase of Interphase. During S phase an identical copy of each chromosome is arranged by DNA replication. The identical copy of each chromosome is then called sister chromatids. They stay connected from the centromere. The centrosome is also replicated during the Sphase. The centrosome is split into opposite poles of the cell and starts the formation of the miotic spindle.
