- I'm Pericles, I think the Athenians are secure as long as we stay behind these walls, because if we go into the open, the Spartans will definitely beat us
- Yeah, they have dominate the land with their stronger Army but we dominate the sea with our stronger Navy.
- The Spartans and their allies Corinth are surrounding Athens, but we won't send our army.
- A plague breaks out in Athens and a lot of people die in the City

- Pericles dies of Plague in 429 BCbut the Athenians still fight on...
- After 10 years of war, Athens and Sparta have a truce - The treaty of Nicias. There are two leagues - The Delian and The Peloponnesian

- The Spartans gather an army to conquer Athens. With the help of money from Persia, they build warships

- Athens has an incredible political system and a strong navy. We win battles between 410 and 406 BC
- The Spartan general Lysander defeats the Athenian fleet in the battle of Aegospotami.
- Athens is defeated (405 BC)
- People in the city begin to starve and eventually in 404 BC, the city of Athens surrenders.
