Storyboard Text

  • Daedalus and his son Icarus were trapped on an island called Crete by King Minos because Theseus escaped from the labyrinth he (Daedalus) made.
  • Soon enough though, Daedalus got an idea. He decided to make pairs of wings for him and his son. So, he gathered up feathers with the help of Icarus, some string, and some wax, he made two pairs of wings.
  • After some training for a while, Daedalus and Icarus flew of the island. Before flying off, Daedalus warned Icarus to not fly to high, because then the sun would melt the wax holding together the wings. He also said that no other human had flown before, and to follow him.
  • In the delight of feeling freedom, Icarus decided to fly higher and higher, and higher. He was having so much fun, he didn't realize how close to the sun he was. Soon enough, the feathers started falling off the wings. Daedalus tried to warn him, but Icarus was too far away.
  • Eventually, all of Icarus's feathers fell off his wings, and the boy started falling. He called for his father, but it was too late, and Icarus plunged into the water. Daedalus, knowing what had happened, could do nothing but collect Icarus's body, some of his feathers and carry on.
  • Daedalus successfully escaped the island, but not without loss. He went and made a temple for Apollo, sticking some of Icarus's feathers on it. If Icarus was alive, he would've learned this lesson: listen to what a person is telling you.Daedalus successfully escaped the island, but not without loss.
