  • Hey Max, it would seriously be cool if all of the continents were connected. We could just straight up drive to a different continent.1
  • It was like that at a certain time. All of the continents used to be combined into one and was called Pangea. This was called the Continental Drift Theory. 2
  • Anyways, wanna go to a restaurant?3

  • Do you have a License!
  • Alfred Wegener was sure that it was true, but didn't know how to prove it. This was because they didn't know how the continents moved. 1
  • It would take another 50 years for him to be proven.2
  • Wanna Go In?1
  • Yeah.3
  • That One?2
  • Soon after this, scientists combined both of these theories and made the Plate Tectonics theory. According to this, there are many different layers inside the Earth. Convection Currents of Molten Rock move the plates slowly and open up gaps that fill with lava. The plates on either side of the ridge also get wider which causes the continents to go apart even more. Also, compression inside the plates cause mountains. This is the Plate Tectonic Theory.2
  • His theory was proven by another theory made by Harry Hess. He proposed that new crust was being added to long ridges and that older crust was being pushed to the side. This was the seafloor spreading theory. This was later proven when they found rock near the ridge which was really young, and found rock at the coasts which was much older.1
  • The total is $7.87 1
