Two friends go for a walk and discuss what one has learned and enjoyed through a course she has taken.
Storyboard Text
I loved learning about UDL and how the goal of UDL is to use different teaching methods to remove barriers for all children so that each child has the opportunity to learn.
I can see that it is vital that these are understood so that they are implemented.
Hey, have I told you how much I enjoyed teaching and learning strategies class.
No, What did you like learning about?
One of the UDL principles that I really found important was Increase Mastery Oriented Feedback. Giving the right kind of feedback is vital to help students learn.
As an Educational Assistant there are lots of opportunities to give students feedback. Making sure feedback is informative and concrete as well as specific , timely and frequent will help the student's develop.
Another of the UDL principles that I think is important to know well as an educator is support planning and strategy development . This involves helping students break down long term goals into short term goals to get a project done.
That is a very important principle that if taught correctly will help students learn and use this principle for the rest of their lives.
There was also an assignment that we did that I found very beneficial. It was on Self correcting materials. This is an important activity that allows students to explore an activity on their own and provide feedback and review concepts. We had to make an activity and then show how to use it.
Oh yeah application assignments are important as many students learn from being able to make something and put it to use
We also had to analyze a social story for one of our assignments. Being able to help construct or help edit a social story will benefit students.
Knowing the correct components to a social story and how to implement them will be beneficial as an Educational Assistant.
This course is essential to becoming an Educational Assistant. I learned so much that I am sure will help me daily as an Educational Assistant.
I am so glad that you have learned so much and are enjoying the program!
