- I studied five eras of Texas history.
- My name is Carlos, I am a sailor. My captain is the great Alonso Alvarez de Pineda.We have been mapping the Texas Coast. I hear the Spaniards have begun settling in this new land.
- My name is Santa Anna, the General of the Mexican Army. I am fighting for control over Texas, but those Texians fighting for independence will not stop and surrender. My men are highly trained we have fought in the Alamo and won. We will not rest until we have control. We march to meet Sam Houston and his men at San Jacinto.
- My name is Sam Houston. I have been the president of Texas 2 times. The Union wouldn't let us in because we were a slave state. The Union wanted to avoid conflict over admitting a slave state in the Union.
- I am a soldier from Texas in the Confederate Army fighting in Alabama. Texas left the Union because we are a slave owning state.
- The discovery of oil at Spindletop is a remarkable sight. Gladys City Oil and Gas Company produces 100,000 barrels of oil a day. This event started the age of oil for the state of Texas.
