  • Excuse me, what is today's date?
  • Thank you, Colonel Prescott
  • Today is July 17, 1775
  • We now must go to the hills before the British plan to
  • Start of 1st try up hill
  • Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes!
  • Go up the hill together
  • What should we do William Howe?
  • Retreat down hill
  • Retreat, they are prepared
  • Boston, MA and the Charlestown Peninsula
  • After similar results for the 2nd try,
  • Victory!
  • Colonel Prescott is explaining to his soldiers that they should only fire when they are close since they were low on ammo.
  • Casualties
  • This battle probably left us with about 300 wounded and 100 dead
  • We probably wounded about 800 and killed about 200 British soldiers.
  • The British are retreating after the Americans attacked them heavily with their muskets.
  • Outcomes and Effects
  • We are not ready for war
  • The outnumbered Americans finally retreated, allowing the British to win the battle.
  • Retreat!
  • 268 British soldiers and officers died and 828 were wounded. 115 Americans were killed and 305 were wounded.
  • This would be the first major battle of the war, and this would be the most British casualties in any of their battles at 40%.
  • Well, at least the British, might realize that this will be a long fight
  • And this battle shows us we can win and will help motivate our soldiers
