- The narrator checked on the old man for seven nights and he didn't see the vulture eye, but on the eighth night the man had awoken and the narrator could see his eye. "It was wide open. I grew furious as I looked at it. I saw it perfectly - dull blue with a ugly film over it that chilled my bones."
- Rising Action-Events leading to the turning point.
- WHO IS THERE!!??

- The narrator had gotten angry when he saw the vulture eye and started to suffocate the old man under his matress. "With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room. He screamed once-once only. I dragged him to the floor and pulled the heavy bed over him."
- Climax-Turning point.
- AHHHHH!!
- The old man's hour has come!!
- The police had shown up to the narrator's house because the neighbor reported a scream. "Three policemen came in. A neighbor had reported a scream and had gone to the police station." "The scream, I said, was my own."
- Falling Action-Story wraps up.
- "The scream was my own. I had been dreaming!"
- The neighbor said there was a scream coming from your house!
