- Liseal is on a trian with her mother and brother. Her brother dies during transit and her mother leaves her.
- Hans and Rosa welcome liseal into their home. Liseal doesn’t want to go but Hans finally gets her inside. This is the start of Hans and liseals strong realtionship
- It’s okay. Come inside!

- Thank you so much for letting me stay here. You shouldn’t have to take such a big risk.
- Hans and rosa take in a Jew because of a old promise that Hans makes in the war. Max stays in the basement where no one can find him. The risk is very great but the promise is stronger.
- A promise is a promise. We will try and keep you safe with us here. You can stay in the basement behind some old paint cans. This is the best hidden place.
- I was drafted to the war…
- No max! Don’t go.Not you too papa, you can’t go.
- Hans is drafted to the war as well as Rudy’s dad. Before this happens Max runs off because he refuses too put the family in any more danger.
- I’m sorry I can’t put you guys in danger any longer. I will always remember your kindness. Goodbye.

- Hans returns back from the war for a few weeks before moving to desk work. Liseal is overjoyed. Liseal finds max in the group of jews walking through the street. Liseal trys to stay with him but is incapable.
- Liseal is reading downstairs when a bomb hits him Mel street. Everyone dies except her. This sis the end of the story.
