- As Caesar and others prepare for the festivities, a soothsayer appears and warns Caesar that he must beware the 15th of March, but Caesar dismisses him and leaves.

- Take the crown Caesar.
- No, thank you.
- Caesar refused an offered crown three times, and then fainted in public.

- Casca tell us what happened today with Caesar.
- Why, there was a crown offered him to him three times.
- Brutus and Cassius catch their friend Casca as he is returning and he explains the commotion they heard from the crowd.

- Calpurnia begs Caesar not to go to the senate that day, as she has a strong feeling he will be in danger because of a bad dream, but Caesar insists that he is unafraid.
- I'm no coward.

- When Antony asks for permission to speak at the funeral, Brutus agrees only if he gets to address the crowd first. In private, Antony begs Caesar's pardon for being friendly with the conspirators and reveals that he hopes to incite a riot.
- With Brutus' permission, for he is an honorable man, I come to speak at Caesar's funeral.
