  • Lets go to work man
  • Yeah lets hope nothing wierd happens
  • Man pretending to be ill walks in, helper is near and the female observer is watching.
  • Woah man that dude looks pretty ill
  • Yeah man i think he might have an accident
  • Woah old man are you ok. Help me get him up
  • The experiment is a field experiment thattakes place in an NYC subway that has a 7 ½ minutes ride nonstop. Theexperiment has up to 4,450 participants and 45% are black while 55% are white.
  • Ew a drunk person lets stay away from him.
  • Drunk man walks in with a helper and female observer
  • Yeah, you dont know what he could have.
  • The experiment starts with either an ill man or drunk man walking into the subway and there are female observers and helpers around the subway recording what happens. The main objective is to test diffusion of responsibility.
  • I will not help him
  • I will since we are both white.
  • The ill person recieved help 100% of the time within 5 seconds. It didnt matter if he was white or black.
  • Woah that was a wierd ride
  • Yeah, i dont really know what happened there.
  • There were barely any participants that wanted to play the drunk man. The results might not be as accurate as possibl because of this. The drunk man was met with more disdain and was helped around 100 seconds after he fell.
  • The only time we see more race on race help was with the drunk trial where black people would help drunk men more and white men would help the drunk men more. The people that played the ill or drunk were only men.
  • This experiment dissproved diffusion of responsibility and showed that the more people there are, the more help. The new theory that was made in response to this was the Cost-reward model where people would help depending on the situation and how much it will affect them.
