- Jack Slater is a batter for the Syracuse Mets who is in a slump and doesn't know situational baseball

- Buck Showalter the manager of the Mets approaches Jack Slate and asks to help him learn more about the game of baseball
- Call to Adventure
- you need to learn more situational baseball.

- Jack doesn't believe that Bucks method of teaching will actually work

- Buck helps train Jack and teach him to learn from others mistakes and furthermore learn what the pitcher will do before he throws it
- you need to recognize your own mistakes and prevent them.

- Jack uses Bucks advice in the next game and the advice helps Jack become an amazing player
- Jack finally makes the majors and struggles to find success. Players such as Brandon Nimmo cheer him on while others like Khalil Lee are not as welcoming.
