- Florida was once two provinces. While also being divided into 2 sections west and east Florida. The U.S owned the west part of the state and France owned the east the size difference naturally led to a disagreement
- While invading Jackson would kill any Seminole in his way. After this whole incident, the president thought they should apologize
- In 1817 president James Monroe sent General Andrew jackson to stop the Seminole raids he was told not to attack but he has other plans...
- Instead, he wrote a letter saying he could take over the east in 60 days. the president didn't answer so Jackson went tino florida and crossed the border.
- Well they were right and they ended up paying only 5 million dollars for florida gaining alot of new land for the U.S
- But john quincy adams thought spain was lying so they called spans bluff monroe liked this idea he thought they would make a deal.
