- Birth
- I am a Kenyan woman born in 1971. I am the first born and only girl in a family of three. I am a daddy's girl and my earliest memory is of him comforting me whenever i got nightmares.
- Childhood
- We lived a comfortable life, went to good schools and lived in nice suburbs , pretty much an upper middle class life. The one thing that i remember was my dad was always doing activities to impact the communities he lived in. He helped form a Coop , helped poor people get jobs and earn a decent living which changed their lives and their future generations .
- Aha Moment
- One of my greatest life lessons came from a time i was fired from my job, I was devastated. I was looking at the definition of failure from an academic perspective where failing meant you did not know anything or you were just plain dumb. Yet, failure, in real life is the foundation of success, it is the where you gain experience and know what to do and what to avoid, it is what builds resilience and perseverance. This gave me the courage to be an entrepreneur
- Heartbreak
- I look back at my rural home and I see is a lot of despair, hopelessness and helplessness with unprecedented levels of poverty and illiteracy and this really breaks my heart. The political system has not helped much because it teaches that for your community to prosper you just need one of you to be the president.
- Hope
- Most of the communities in the rural areas are small scale subsistence farmers who barely make enough to eat let alone live decent life. It breaks my heart to see their despair and my greatest wish would be impact their lives , positively by leveraging on their knowledge ,culture and natural resources. I would love to transform lives through growing high value crops and doing value addition. I would also love to use the rocky hills to rear goats for sale as opposed to them seeing the rocky hills as unproductive barren wasteland.
