I was betrayed... by my wife.

Shahryar discovered that his wife, the queen, cheated on him.

He was sad and furious at the same time.

Shahryar declares that all women are the same. He vows to take a wife each night and have them executed the next day. The people were terrified of what the king has declared, but they cannot defy him so they just watch in horror as the king murders their daughters.

Women must be punished!

Father, I shall marry the king.

Are you out of your mind!

Shahrazad, the daughter of the grand vizier, convinces her father to marry the king. She was eager to stop the king from his wrong-doings. Shahrazad asked her sister, Dinazad, to ask her for a story before sunrise. With the king's permission, Shahrazad was allowed to tell a story to Dinazad.

As planned, Dinazad came to Shahrazad before sunrise. Shahrazad then starts to tell a story. King Shahryar listened as well. Shahrazad stops the story at the suspenseful part of the story and tells Dinazad that she will continue the story on the following night if the king would allow her to live until then.

King Shahryar was also curious about what happens next in the story so he decides to spare her life. The story telling continued for a thousand and one nights with the same scenario of Dinazad asking Shahrazad for a story and cutting it on the climax.

Once upon a time...

Shahryar fell in love with Shahrazad. He then renounces his law of marrying women every night and executing them the next morning. Captivated, Shahryar decides to keep Shahrazad as his queen.

I would want to know what happens next.

I shall tell you tomorrow, your majesty.
