  • If I don't turn the light switch on and off one more time I won't wake up tomorrow!
  • Don't say things like that about Dan!
  • They're right, I am weird. If I wasn't why would I think the world is going to end if I don't flick the light switch? No sane person does that, I must be crazy.
  • Why is Daniel turning on the lights?  He's such a weirdo.
  • Daniel's so weird.
  • Aaaaaah
  • Psycho Sara back at it again. Why can't she just be normal like the rest of us?
  • Why is Sara doing this?
  • Daniel needs to flick the light switch on and off the perfect amount of times or else he thinks he won't wake up in the morning. He does this every night, even though it hurts his hands. If he doesn't do it right he gets anxiety attacks, or "zaps" as he calls them. This process of doing things, then getting zapped, then doing them again, take hours for Daniel to do. This relates to the social issue of mental illness because Daniels OCD is what causes these zaps.
  • At the school dance, Daniel got a zap and felt compelled to turn on the lights. He turned on the lights in front of everyone in the gym because he thought he was going to die if he didn't. Although Daniel still felt like he needed to do it again after this, embarrassment washed over him and he just ran home. This relates to the social issue of mental illness because Daniels OCD made him do this. Daniel's OCD makes him do things he knows he shouldn't do.
  • In class, a girl named Sara has an outburst and starts to scream and flail her limbs. Sara is nicknamed psych Sara by other students because she doesn't talk to many people and has a TA. This relates to the social issue of mental illness because Sara has many mental conditions like depression, anxiety, and autism. This outburst was caused by these mental illnesses.
