Storyboard Text

  • Your daughter is 12 now, right? How's life with an adolescent ?
  • Well... she's growing a lot! She seems to be a bit self conscious about the changes in her body.
  • That's totally normal! Adolescents go through sexual development. They experience a lot of maturation in their bodies and they get taller!
  • Oh... The change must be making her self conscious.
  • That's her cognitive development! She is starting to figure out her independent identity. She is also developing her intelligence and logical and abstract thinking.
  • On the bright side, she has started to develop a sense of who she is and what she likes.
  • Because of hormonal changes and brain development, she may also feel her emotions strongly! This may mean her highs are very high and her lows are pretty low.
  • Is that a good or a bad thing?
  • Neither! It just means your daughter will have a stronger need for social interaction and she will have a higher sensitive to social activity.
  • All you can do is encourage a positive relationship between you and your daughter. And you should encourage a positive relationship between your daughter and her peers! She will be just fine.
